Murmann School is off and running
7. Februar 2007
At the constitutive meeting of the Supervisory Board, the Academic Under-Secretary of State, Jost de Jager, presented the letter of recognition to the Murmann School of Global Management and Economics as an institute associated with the Christian-Albrechts University of Kiel (CAU).
Having been awarded the status of an institute associated with the University, the Murmann School is recognised as having a concept and performance profile that meet the criteria of an academic university with regard to teaching, research and further education.
“The Murmann School is striving forward at a huge pace. At the first meeting of the Supervisory Board, we created a structure capable of making the necessary upcoming decisions. At the same time, we set the course for developing the courses to be offered. Our mutual objective is to enrol the first students in the autumn of 2007,” said de Jager after the meeting. Previously, he had been voted as Chairman of the Supervisory Board; Klaus Murmann was voted Deputy Chairman.
The initial members of the Scientific Advisory Council will be announced at the meeting in April. They will promote the integration of the Murmann School in the international academic world. The tenure procedure for professorships at the Murmann School will also have reached an advanced stage by then.
Questions on global management and global economy will be directly linked to one another at the new business school. In cooperation with the Kiel Institute for the World Economy and the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences at the CAU, renowned professors from all over the world will teach students skills in Master’s degree courses and manager seminars that are essential for the top positions in internationally active companies and organisations, while simultaneously promoting research in this field.
