Murmann School acclaimed as "Landmark in the Land of Ideas 2007"

Dr. Klaus Murmann, founder of the Murmann School named after him, and Jost de Jager, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the new business school, will receive the Certificate of Honour from Olaf Meuser, Deutsche Bank and representative of the initiative, “365 Landmarks in the Land of Ideas”, in Kiel today.

The future-oriented mission of the Murmann School convinced the selection committee. “The Murmann School stands for trend-setting education and research at the highest level. Its unique approach lies in the close link between global management and global economy,” said Murmann. “We need a new form of further academic education, because our employees in global management must continuously include global economic relations in their decisions.”

The target of the joint initiative of the Federal German Government and the German business world is to make the economic strength and inventiveness of Germany as an economic location clear, thereby helping to boost it. The Murmann School was selected from more than 1,500 applicants as one of 365 "Landmarks in the Land of Ideas 2007". Its program will represent the innovative strength of Germany at the Murmann Forum on 25 September 2007. Renowned representatives from the worlds of both business and science will discuss leadership strategies in the plenary hall of the Schleswig-Holstein Parliament, with a focus on progressive globalisation of business life.

The Murmann School was founded in the autumn of 2006 as a public-private partnership by Dr. Klaus Murmann, entrepreneur and honorary president of the Confederation of German Employers’ Associations (BDA), the Christian-Albrechts University Kiel and Kiel Institute for the World Economy. Questions regarding international management and global economy are linked in a new way in both teaching and research. From the autumn of 2007 onwards, renowned professors will hold two-day executive courses, imparting the latest knowledge and methods on special topics related to global management. From the autumn of 2008 onwards, young managers can prepare themselves for executive assignments at an international level in a one-year MSc course in Global Management and Economics.
