Murmann Business School's superior offer for further education convinces managers
Kiel, 6 June 2008 − The Murmann School of Global Management and Economics in Kiel has successfully begun operations. The school received top grades from the participants of the first two Executive Courses for the high quality of its further education courses.
These Executive Courses consist of two-to-five-day advanced training courses which are offered several times a year. They are targeted specifically at experienced managers from medium-sized businesses and large corporations who want to receive further training in the field of global and intercultural management. Using practical examples, the participants learn new methods and approaches with which to successfully meet the complex requirements of international markets. The exchange of experiences between the participants from various fields and companies, the professor and selected guest lecturers ensures a highly individual reference for participating managers.
Altogether, 23 participants from 13 companies took part in the courses on "Strategies in Global Markets" and "Global and Cross-cultural Leadership" which were run by internationally renowned lecturers. In the course on "Strategies in Global Markets", held by Professor John Stopford, Professor of International Strategy at the Murmann School and Professor Emeritus of the London Business School, participants discussed the forces that control global competition. World market leaders from German medium-sized businesses, of which there is a higher-than-average number, were used as examples. This resulted in close points of reference for the managers with their own companies and management assignments: at the end of the two-day course, each participant had defined definite actions for themselves that were directly applicable to their individual situation in management. The participants saw in Professor Stopford a lecturer whose high level of experience and flexibility provided them with a great deal of support. "The course with Professor Stopford offers abundant practical contents that I can use directly in my own work," said Bernd Kühne-Oertel from Carl Kühne KG in Hamburg. "I found the open discussion and exchange with other managers from various fields and companies particularly valuable."
The course offered by Professor Jörg Dietz from the Richard Ivey School of Business, Canada, also received good grades: he taught the participants just how much their leadership behaviour is influenced by their cultural background, as well as the methods that can be used to create a productive working atmosphere despite different ways of working and thinking. "The course on Global and Cross-cultural Leadership provides high-level insights, methods and approaches for working in globally active companies," Leopold Reymaier from HSH Nordbank said, confirming the quality standards and practical use of the program. His opinion confirms the evaluation of the feedback questionnaires. Average evaluations of 6.5 and 6.7 out of a maximum of 7 possible points confirm that the Murmann School got off to an excellent start.
