Kiel, 6 June 2008 − The Murmann School of Global Management and Economics in Kiel has successfully begun operations. The school received top grades from the participants of the first two Executive Courses for the high quality of its further education courses.

Today in Kiel the Murmann School of Global Management and Economics was awarded the title "Landmark in the Land of Ideas 2007" on the grounds of its future-oriented concept for academic further education that is specially designed to fulfil the requirements of the international economy. As a result of this award by the landmark initiative of the Federal Government and the German economy "Germany – Land of Ideas", renowned representatives from the worlds of commerce and science discussed the new management strategies during the Murmann Forum in the plenar hall of the Schleswig-Holstein parliament in particular in view of advancing globalisation and international involvement of the economy.

The Advanced Studies Program in International Economic Policy Research run by the Kiel Institute for the World Economy is highly renowned. Since 1984, 500 economists from around the world have taken part in this high-quality training in economic research and economic policy. For the first time, this year's program will be carried out jointly by the Murmann School of Global Management and Economics and the previously responsible institution, the Kiel Institute for the World Economy.

Dr. Klaus Murmann, founder of the Murmann School named after him, and Jost de Jager, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the new business school, will receive the Certificate of Honour from Olaf Meuser, Deutsche Bank and representative of the initiative, “365 Landmarks in the Land of Ideas”, in Kiel today.

At the constitutive meeting of the Supervisory Board, the Academic Under-Secretary of State, Jost de Jager, presented the letter of recognition to the Murmann School of Global Management and Economics as an institute associated with the Christian-Albrechts University of Kiel (CAU).

Germany’s first business school for global management is under way: Today (20 October), the Academic Under-Secretary of State for the Land of Schleswig-Holstein, Jost de Jager, and the former President of the German Employers’ Associations, Klaus Murmann, signed a cooperation agreement founding the “Murmann School of Global Management and Economics”.
